can someone identify this fish for me?
can someone identify this fish for me?
I've been given a fish and I'm totally stumped - no idea what it is. Can someone please help me figure it out?
Re: can someone identify this fish for me?
That's a damsel, pretty sure of it. They tend to turn into feisty little buggers as they grow.
Re: can someone identify this fish for me?
Just measured him, he's around 3.5" from tip to tail, maybe a bit longer. Currently in my 45 wave with 2 green chromis and a tomato clown, he's assertively showing the clown who's in charge. I'm planning to move him to my 550 later. He's an absolute joy to watch, constantly darting in and out of the live rock like it's an obstacle course. He also nips at the live rock, not sure what he's eating, but it's entertaining to see.

mate i've been searchin everywhere tryin to figure out what type of damsel fish this is, and i gotta be honest, i'm stumped. can't find it in any of me books or on any fish websites, and it's drivin me mad.
Re: can someone identify this fish for me?
Could be a blue devil damselfish but I'm guessing that'd be more electric blue, and it'd probably be in your books as well.
Re: can someone identify this fish for me?
One of the abudefduf damsel family, same as sergeant majors, they tend to grow quite large. Imported these many years ago from Singapore as local damsels, lol, not much help to you, I'm afraid.
Re: can someone identify this fish for me?
looks like a damsel to me, possibly one of the blue varieties, could be a blue chromis but not entirely sure.
Re: can someone identify this fish for me?
I'm thinking it could be the adult form of a damsel I've seen before, had a juvenile once, was a real cutie, white body, black pectoral fins, and an electric blue stripe on the fin with a yellow top to the body, does that sound right? I've had a look online, think the latin name might be Neoglyphidodon melas, worth a google.
