Can anyone identify this mysterious object?

Post by bettaMagenta »

I'm stumped... my tank is loaded with pond snails and what looks like Armano shrimp - weird. The eggs resemble some pics I saw online, but there are so many of them, you'd think I'd have noticed before. The only new additions were those little Congo's the other day, and I netted them carefully, so if something was in the bag, it would've had to come out with the fish in the net.

I turned off one of the lights, and now it seems to be moving pretty slowly.

It's about a quarter inch by a quarter inch. Turned off all the lights, and it's not bioluminescent, just really reflective.

I'm curious about those Armano shrimp, where'd you get 'em from? They must've been pricey, right? Did you pick up something to complement 'em when you got 'em?

No idea... I've got a bunch of pond snails in this tank, and Armano shrimp... it kinda looks like snail eggs I've seen online, but there's so many of them, it's weird I haven't seen them before... I mean, the only new thing I added recently was the little Congo's, and I used a net, so if it was in the bag, it had to have come out with the fish... @barnicle, I think it's Armano shrimp, not Armani - my phone's spell check got the best of me. Still can't get a good pic, it's like this thing is jamming my camera - tried a few more shots this morning, but no luck.

No flash here, just super reflective off the aquarium lights. Tank residents are bumping into it, even the Corys, and they're all leaving it be. It's in the tank that's a pain to work on, but I could try scooping it up with my magnetic scraper if it's something bad.

Lol, that Armano shrimp typo cracked me up. Anyway, no idea what it is, but it's possible it could be snail eggs.

Could've been those Congo's, brought it in with them, that's my best guess too.
