Male krib behavior after successful spawning

Post by oceanbeef »

Apologies for the lengthy title.
We've had our Kribensis pair for roughly 2.5 months now.
They've paired up, built a home and spawned twice in that time.
However, the fry only seem to last about a week each time - the numbers dwindle gradually before disappearing altogether.
The male's now taken to guarding the home area and chasing everything away, including the female.
She's retreated to the opposite side of the tank and is swimming near the surface, while he remains on high alert.
I'm not sure what to make of this behaviour - is it normal or has the male just become overly aggressive?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
