I'm having a bit of trouble understanding the operation here. Is he breeding these bettas, selling them to stores, or both? Maybe they came in from Thailand in those cups? I did notice some of them are in tanks with individual sponge filters, which I think is a nice touch.

I really enjoyed the photos, thank you for sharing. There's a particular betta at my local fish store that's caught my eye - it's been there for weeks now, and I wish I could bring it home. The price tag is $30, which isn't bad considering its unique features. I'd describe it as a koi veiltail, with the 'veil' part being pretty self-explanatory, but the 'koi' part referring to its coloring, similar to a calico cat. I've had koi bettas before, but they didn't have veil tails, so this one really stands out. What's also interesting is that it has heterochromia - two different colored eyes. It's heartbreaking to see it sitting there, looking more and more depressed every time I visit. I know I can't save every fish, but I'd love to give this one a good home. Thanks again for sharing the photos - they're really inspiring. On a side note, I've seen similar coloring patterns on angelfish and guppies, typically featuring white, black, and orange hues.
