identifying a fish i saw recently

Post by frosty42 »

I was at the fish store the other day and I saw this really cool fish, it was hilarious. He had a tiny head, long fins, and was this light cream yellow color with little black spots all over him. The sign said Clown Face something, I forgot the rest, but this little guy was a riot. He was hiding, watching me check him out, then out of nowhere he comes rushing at me, trying to scare me off. Then he just goes back and hides again, it was so funny.

What was the rest of that Clown Face name?

Could be the clown surgeon. Maybe a clown trigger fish.

I got a bad pic of him on my phone, I'll post it once I get it on the computer. He was just so weird, that tiny head on that bigger body, I mean it was pretty funny.

I finally figured it out. It's a panther grouper, and the store called it a clown faced grouper. That little guy was hilarious, I'm telling you.

Yeah I looked them up - they can grow big, and weigh a lot too. Some fish stores sell species that shouldn't be in home aquariums, like nurse sharks and sturgeons.
