is my female sp 44 holding?

Post by flowon »

I've had my 4 sp 44's for about a month now, 2 males and 2 females. They're only around 2" and I haven't seen any breeding activity yet. However, I have noticed over the past few days that one of my females hasn't been eating and is isolating herself from the rest of the tank. She's also got a small lump underneath her throat, could she be holding eggs? If so, how long before they hatch and she spawns them? I need to know whether to strip her or not.

Honestly, I'm leaning towards no, based on the pics, but I could be completely off the mark. It's been a while now, over three weeks, and I think that's usually around the average time they hold eggs...so, did she ever end up releasing them?
