identifying the black spot issue

Post by florabot »

I'm wondering if these spots on him are some kind of black spot disease or just naturally occurring pigments. The shopkeeper assured me the fish is healthy, but I'm not entirely convinced - maybe he just wants to make a sale. I've had the fish since it had these spots, and I'm trying to do what's best for it.

Honestly, it does seem a bit off, but I'm inclined to think it's just the fish's natural coloration. I'd rather hear from someone with more experience in this area before making any conclusions, though.

I'm pretty sure that's just his natural coloration. I think you'll know if it's something to worry about soon enough, like if his colors start changing.

It's likely either coloration or bruising/chemical burns, but in either case, there's no specific treatment since it's not a disease. I'd recommend maintaining excellent tank conditions, focusing on regular water changes and thorough gravel cleaning. Ensure your filter is functioning properly and provide a varied diet for your fish. If the spots persist after a month, it's probably just coloration.
