Considering a diy project: what's on your list?

I'm finding the api kit a bit of a hassle to work with, what with filling and standing the tubes up.

I've drafted a new design, gonna make a proper one, and I'll be adding a syringe holder too.
All the holders will be made to a pro standard, and I'll make sure they're all sanded down properly.
Still needs a bit of a redesign and lowering, but it's getting there.

If I make a batch, would anyone be interested in buying one?
I'll post some pics once I've got a proper one sorted for myself.

I think that's a great idea, will definitely be keeping an eye out for when you've got one ready for sale.

I'm a bit rusty on this. Haven't tested my tank water in years. Still the same process, right - collecting a water sample and adding those chemical drops? I know that's probably a no-brainer. What about testing strips, though? Are they just as reliable these days?

That's awesome, expanding it to include GH & KH would be really useful too.

I'm a fan of this idea. I've been using an old solder spool as a makeshift holder for my test tubes, it's been doing the job but it's still stuck in the original plastic box.

Hello again. I've been thinking, if you're someone who often forgets a scheduled water change, this might be the thing for you. I change most of my water every week, but I guess for others, it could be helpful. If you store the strips properly, they seem like an easier option than dealing with all those chemicals. It's weird that with all our tech advancements, we still don't have a simple sensor that can alert us to high nitrogen levels in the tank.

I built a similar setup back in the '90s for my Hagen test kit. Those kits didn't include any holders for the test tubes, so I had to get creative.
