Is keeping one clown fish cruel?

Post by stellalux »

Got a bad case of MultiTankSyndrome. Now I'm eyeing a nano reef tank, but there's this one thing...

Keeping just one clown fish - is that cruel? I'm thinking of getting a tiny one, a false percula clown fish. What's the smallest tank size I can get away with for that little guy?

Not cruel, I'd say, but having just one clown fish does tug at the heartstrings - there's something undeniably special about a pair of clowns.

Keeping them solo actually reduces territorial behavior.
