Celsius to Fahrenheit Conversion

Post by maverick »

I've noticed we've got a lot of folks on this forum who use Celsius, but for us Americans who are used to Fahrenheit, I figured it's worth sharing a quick trick I've learned - there's an easy way to convert Celsius to Fahrenheit.

Take a Celsius temperature, double it, then subtract 10% and finally add 32. Give it a shot and you'll see it works like a charm. For example, let's say you've got 31 degrees Celsius: 31 * 2 = 62, then 62 - 10% (which is 6.2) = 55.8, and lastly 55.8 + 32 = 87.8.

And the best part is, this trick even works with negative Celsius temperatures.

I'm a Celsius user too. I rely on a calculator for conversions, specifically this one: Fahrenheit to Celsius.

I've got a handy app on my smartphone that does the trick. I'm familiar with a few common conversions, like 27C to 82F and 29C to 84F - those ones I've got down pat.
