feeding shelldwellers

Post by leopard »

I'm looking for a decent food source for a shelldweller - don't know the exact species yet, but I'm open to whatever I can find.

Considering the following options:
- Hikari Cichlid Gold (assuming it's available in smaller sizes)
- Frozen and/or Live Brine Shrimp

To be honest, this selection seems a bit limited. What other foods would you guys recommend for this type of fish?

I've found that shelldwellers aren't picky eaters - they'll take whatever fits in their mouths. Just be mindful of the texture, as they're not great at chewing, so avoid tablet foods that require biting. Also, they tend to prefer food that sinks, rather than floating at the surface.

I give mine New Era, the red and green ones, they handle that pretty well.

I give mine brine shrimp and also some tetra color pellets, seems to work alright for them.
