A better aquarium filter question

Post by roller »

Hi, I'm having an issue with my aquarium. I replaced the filter a few hours ago but I transferred the old media to the new one. It's been a few hours since the change but my tank water is still cloudy. I'm not sure what's going on. Is this normal?

If you have filter floss, I'd recommend adding that to the filter. It's a good idea to change it the next day or sooner if you notice the filter output has slowed down. If you don't have floss, you can try rinsing the media you have in dechlorinated water to remove any debris it has trapped. You can repeat this process as often as needed to help clear up the cloudiness.

Also, consider doing a water change or two. Keep in mind that the good bacteria isn't in the water itself, but rather in your filter media, substrate, decor, and even plants.
