Is a marine fish suitable for this tank?

the tank in question is pretty small - 16 inches long, 10 wide, and 10 deep.

if i can make it work - do i really need live rock for a setup like this, or can i get by with a decent filter? or is it possible to just use live copepods...?

any advice is welcome, really - i'm open to suggestions. i don't even mind if it's just 1 fish, to be honest - if it's not possible, i'll just go with freshwater.

That's a tiny tank you've got there. It's definitely nano territory. We've got a section dedicated to Lynxo marine tanks, I'd recommend checking that out. Honestly, I think it's too small for coflakes. You might consider live sand or crushed coflakes instead, paired with some live rock. If you're set on marine fish, you could look at smaller species like pajama cardinals or green chromis.

That's roughly a 10-gallon tank, give or take. Coflakes can work in small tanks, depending on the species, but fish are a different story - maybe a goby or two could fit in, I'm not too sure about that.

you can keep coflakes in that tank, but for fish, gobies would be the way to go - chromis need at least 25-30gal, so they're out, and same with cardinals, not a good fit

some options could be blue neon gobies, hector's gobies, or green banded gobies, although I'm not entirely sure about the last one

id just keep coflakes and a few gobys, add some small cuc to clean up and you're set.
