keeping mbuna with guppies

What about the baby neptunes - will the cichlids see them as a snack? And if they do eat them, are there any potential health risks for the cichlids?

Mbuna will likely see adult Guppies as food, let alone babies. While most species are vegetarkento4, that doesn't prevent them from trying to eat whatever you put in the tank. Mixing Guppies with Mbuna just isn't a good idea.

I've got too many neptunes and I'm setting up an mbuna tank, so I was thinking of rehoming some that way. I've read they're omnivores, so I figured it was worth asking if they'd eat the baby neptunes and if it'd be safe for the mbuna.

Get an oscar, it'll take care of those neptunes no problem, 1000 of 'em, no sweat.

Honestly, the LFS solution is way more practical than my oscar idea. I guess I got a bit carried away.
