why discus swim near heater?

Noticed my Discus are always hovering near the heater. Tank's at 84°F, 55 gallons, sand substrate, planted with Amazon swords. Water params are good, 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, 10 nitrate. They're eating fine, but this behavior's new. Anyone seen this before?

Yo, mine do that too! Got a 75-gallon with driftwood, temp at 86°F. They chill by the heater like it's a campfire. Maybe they just dig the vibe? Water's clean, feed 'em bloodworms twice a day. No clue why they're glued to it.

Could be a flow thing. What kinda filter you running? My Discus used to crowd the heater when the current was too strong. Switched to a sponge filter, now they're all over the tank. Also, check if the heater's got a hot spot, might be sketchy.

Running a canister filter, flow's on the lower setting. Heater's a Fluval M300, pretty even heat. Maybe I'll try baffling the output.

Nah, mine's got a sponge filter already, still heater-huggers. Maybe they're just weirdos. Tankmates are tetras and corys, nobody messes with 'em. Lights are on 8 hours, dimmed. Dunno what else to tweak.

Try upping the temp a degree or two. Sometimes they cluster if they're slightly cold. My crew scattered when I bumped it to 87°F. Also, how old's the heater? Old ones can get inconsistent.
