do you use plant supplements?

Post by flame »

I've been running a 20 gallon planted tank for about a year now, and I'm curious if y'all use plant supplements. My Anubias and Java Fern are doing okay, but my Bacopa just won't take off. I'm using Fluval Stratum substrate and a Nicrew light, 8 hours a day. Water params are good, 0 ammonia, 0 nitrite, 10 nitrate. Should I mess with supplements or just chill?

i dunno much but my plants grew better when i started using seachem flourish. my tank is smaller tho, just 10 gallons with sand and a basic led. i add it once a week after water changes. my anubias got bigger leaves, but idk if it's the supplement or just time.

Supplements are unnecessary if your lighting and substrate are adequate. Focus on maintaining stable water conditions. Excess nutrients can lead to algae blooms.

Thanks for the input. I might grab a small bottle of Flourish and see if it helps the Bacopa. My lighting's decent, but maybe it's missing something.

yeah, it's cheap enough to try. just don't go crazy with it. i messed up once and dumped too much in, got algae for days. now i use the little cap to measure.

Algae is a common result of over-supplementation. If you insist on using additives, start with half the recommended dose and observe for two weeks.

Got it. I'll start slow and keep an eye on things. Appreciate the advice, folks.
