A betta with unusual markings

Post by florah »

Hey, I've been noticing this white, shiny spot on my betta's head for a few days now. Looks like he might have hurt himself, but then I saw another small white spot on his side too. Been using fish recover from Brightwell Aquatics for 6 days already, but I'm not seeing any improvements.

Tank specs: 4.5g, no heater, filter yes, ammonia 0, NO2 0, NO3 0, PH 6.5. I do regular tank maintenance - vacuum 40% of the water weekly (now twice a week since I noticed these symptoms). He's on JBL flakes and Ocean Nutrition pellets, 3-4 pellets and a couple of flakes, twice a day.

His behavior's still normal and he's eating just fine. Should I try medicating with something else or just give it more time?

I'm new to this forum, so please bear with me if I unintentionally break any rules. I've had success using aquarium/sea salt in situations similar to yours, and I thought it might be worth considering. I hold the International Betta Congress in high regard - in my opinion, they're the go-to authority on betta care. I came across an article on their site that you might find helpful - it discusses the use of aquarium salt as a preventative measure: https://www.ibcbettas.org/aquarium-salt ... ive-v-2-0/
