I've got two EX1200s running on my Vision 260, and I've got to say, the piping is really neat and tidy. They fit perfectly in the grooves at the back of the tank, no cutting required. Plus, they fit snugly in the cabinet, which is a bonus. In contrast, the EX2400 is massive and I highly doubt it would fit in the cabinet at all - it would probably have to sit outside, so it wouldn't exactly save on space. Another thing, my LFS has an EX2400 running on one of their tanks and it's ridiculously loud - my EX1200s are really quiet in comparison.

Never had to cut a lid down, no issues with fitting my filters.

I had a look at the gap at the back near the lid, the one in my LFS seemed quite small, does that mean the piping isn't too bulky?
I wasn't planning on keeping the filter in the cabinet anyway, so that's not an issue. The noise is a concern though, so I'm leaning towards two filters now. I might just try one out, but this is turning out to be more expensive than my initial discus plan.

Oh well, I think I'll just go with two Ex1200's, if it works for all of you then I suppose it's the way to go.

I've never had to cut any part down, my lids sit fine. The one on my 270 litre is flush, but on my 180 litre it's slightly raised, I can live with that, rather than cutting it down.

Thanks for the feedback, I think I've made my mind up now.
