Aquarium competition ideas

Post by starix »

I'm thinking of organizing a local aquarium competition but need some fresh ideas. What categories would you suggest beyond the usual best planted tank or healthiest fish? Looking for something unique to make it stand out.

How about a 'most creative aquascape' category? It could include themes like biotope replication or fantasy landscapes. Judges could score based on originality and execution. Also, maybe a 'best nano tank' for those with smaller setups.

Yo, a 'best glow-up' category would be lit. Folks submit before-and-after pics of their tanks over a few months. Shows off their skills and progress, ya know? Plus, it's motivational for newbies.

I like that idea. Could also add a 'most improved fish health' category, focusing on rescues or rehab cases.

Consider a 'community favorite' award where attendees vote for their favorite tank. It's engaging and gives participants a chance to interact. Also, a 'best use of unconventional materials' category could spark creativity.

Haha, how about a 'most chaotic tank' prize? Like, who's got the wildest mix of fish and decor that somehow works. It'd be fun and low-pressure for folks who don't take it too seriously.

Totally agree! Adding a 'best storytelling' category could be cool too, where participants explain the inspiration behind their tank's design.

These are all great suggestions, thanks everyone! I'll definitely incorporate a mix of these ideas to keep the competition diverse and engaging.

Don't forget to include clear judging criteria for each category. It'll help participants understand what's expected and reduce disputes later. Maybe even share a rubric beforehand.

And hey, if you're gonna do the glow-up thing, make sure folks document their process. Timelapse vids or weekly pics would be dope for the judges to see.
