Good point about nitrates. My tank was at 5 ppm and my plants were struggling. Bumped it up and they perked right up.

If you're using tap water, check if it's super soft. Some plants need those minerals to thrive.

And don't forget to clean your filter. A clogged filter can mess with flow and nutrient distribution.
