information on acei holding

Post by Oceanix9 »

Got a new batch of babies in my Cichlid tank, guess that makes three tanks now with young ones - the live bearers, Royal Farowella, and this one.

She's just 3.5" so likely her first spawn, fingers crossed it goes well for her. Not sure I can scrounge up another tank for the little ones, might just let nature take its course and see which ones are smart enough to make it.

Confirmed, she's definitely holding, can see the eggs in her mouth when she's gulping with that jaw full.
Tomorrow's the day for tank shopping - hitting up the second-hand stores and scouring Craig's list.
My Multiple Tank Syndrome is in full swing.
Fingers crossed I can get a fry tank cycled in time.

If you're planning to keep the little ones, I'd recommend a minimum 10-gallon tank for the mom. That's 24" x 10" x 10" to give her enough space. For equipment, you don't need much - just the basics: an air-driven sponge filter, a heater, a couple of rocks, and no substrate.

Got a great deal on a 30gal tank for the fry today, and I'm planning to make some DIY Sponge filters. Just need to find a suitable sponge material - I've found a good option, but the shipping costs are a bit steep. There's some denser foam at the craft store, but I'm not sure if it's the right stuff.

I'll keep things as they are for now and continue with regular maintenance. This seems to be working for the mom, and she's still happy to swim about, even coming to check out food at feeding time. She and the dad are still king and queen of the tank, but things might change as she weakens from fasting. I'll keep an eye on her and move her to the new tank when necessary.

I'm starting to think she's just messing with me, all that jaw action's got me cringing, feels like I'm the one with TMJ just watching her.

What a pretty girl. Hope she does alright through this. Is that dad in the top left of the picture? Her blue is lovely.

Yeah, that's dad hiding in the top left. Guess he's done his part and now she's on her own. She seems a bit out of her element tonight, like she's not quite sure what to do with herself. Kind of reminds me of my ex when I was expecting - all a bit lost and confused.

The classic abandonment case. Dad's done his part and now she's left to figure it out on her own. You've got the fry tank all set up, so now it's just a waiting game. Fingers crossed everything works out for her and the little ones.

Love 'em and leave 'em indeed. You're all set with that fry tank, now just the waiting game. Fingers crossed everything goes smoothly.
