Most vibrant Zoanthid varieties

Post by medic23 »

What are the most vibrant Zoanthid varieties you've kept or seen in person? I'm setting up a new 40-gallon reef and want something eye-catching under my AI Prime HD. Looking for names like Rasta, Utter Chaos, or similar.

I've had some killer results with Sunny D's. They pop under blue LEDs, but they're kinda finicky with flow. Keep 'em mid-tank unless you've got gentle circulation. Also, check out Fruit Loops if you want something neon.

Utter Chaos? More like Utter Disappointment when my clownfish decided they were snacks. Stick with something less tempting, like Blue Hornets. They're vibrant and won't vanish overnight.

For steady vibrancy, I'd recommend Purple People Eaters. They're not as flashy as some others, but they grow fast and hold color even under basic lighting. Plus, they're tough as nails.

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone. I'll probably start with Blue Hornets and Sunny D's, then experiment from there. Appreciate the heads-up on flow and alk stability too.

I have a colony of Red Hornets in my 75-gallon. They've doubled in size over six months with weekly 10% water changes and Reef Roids twice a week. No special lighting, just a basic T5 setup.

Anyone tried mixing different Zoas on the same rock? I've got some Eagle Eyes next to a small patch of Bam Bams, and they're not fighting yet. Wonder if it's luck or if they're chill like that.

My tank's too new for Zoas, but this thread's got me hyped. Gonna save up for some Rastas once my parameters stabilize.
