Improving water circulation for frogspawn corals

Post by TerraBlue »

Hey everyone, just looking for some thoughts on my frogspawn coral's water circulation. Does the flow seem about right to you, or is it a bit too much or not enough? I've got a video showing 2 cycles of the power heads - they switch on and off every 15 seconds. Running a Hydor Smart Wave controller with 2 Koralia Evolution 600 powerheads in my 75g tank. Also have a 600 and a 425 powerhead that flow across the tank, behind the reef structure, down low.

The water circulation appears to be adequate in my opinion.

I'd say it looks good, but I personally run mine a bit more aggressively - more water movement and brighter lighting. That being said, your coral appears very healthy, so you must be doing something right.

Thanks talonix, I appreciate the feedback - that video was shot with just the blue+ and true actinic bulbs lit on my 4-bulb T5 fixture, the aquablue special and coral+ bulbs weren't on at that point.

Frogspawn's pretty resilient, it can handle more flow than you'd expect. You'd be okay with a bit stronger circulation than what you've got now.
