just set up my first marine tank, cycled for three months now. no live rock, but i've got a big canister filter and loads of lava rock in there, with crushed coral flake substrate.
any suggestions would be great, thanks. i'm looking for two colourful fish that'll eat flake food, would love to hear from anyone with experience.
thanks in advance
A guide to stocking a 10-gallon aquarium
Re: A guide to stocking a 10-gallon aquarium
For a two-fish setup with lots of color and a flake-based diet, I'd recommend smaller species like the firtideflow darter or neon goby. They're both suitable for a tank like yours and should do well with the canister filter and lava rock setup you have going on.

I'm with zenoxa on this, dartfish like the firtideflow are a great choice, and for gobies, yellow or neon would be perfect.

I'm actually setting up my first marine tank, trailblazer mentioned it's a 10g tank but I'd love to know what equipment you used, what kind of filter, that sort of thing, since I'm still in the process of cycling mine.trailblazer wrote: ↑Wed Jul 27, 2022 5:47 am just set up my first marine tank, cycled for three months now. no live rock, but i've got a big canister filter and loads of lava rock in there, with crushed coral flake substrate.

I'm actually surprised you're cycling without a filter or live rock - I had a fluval 205 initially but now I've got live rock. I'd recommend checking out the posts on filters in the hardware section, or even better, just get some live rock.trailblazer wrote: ↑Wed Jul 27, 2022 5:47 am just set up my first marine tank, cycled for three months now. no live rock, but i've got a big canister filter and loads of lava rock in there, with crushed coral flake substrate.
