If you're impatient like me, use bottled bacteria to speed up the cycle. It's not perfect, but it helps.

What's the best water conditioner? I've heard mixed things about some brands.

Seachem Prime is my go-to. It detoxifies ammonia and nitrites, which is handy during cycling or if you miss a water change.

I use API Stress Coat. It's cheaper and has aloe vera, which is supposed to help with their slime coat.

Yo, don't overcomplicate it. Just get a decent conditioner and stick with it. Bettas are tough little fish.
