LED lighting for deep tanks
LED lighting for deep tanks
Got a 30-gallon deep tank, about 24 inches tall. My Zoanthids aren't opening up like they used to. Think it's the lights? Running a basic LED strip, but it's kinda weak. What's y'all's setup for deep tanks?

24 inches is no joke, dude. You gotta crank up the PAR. I'm running two AI Primes on my 40-gallon breeder, and my Acros are loving it. What's your light schedule look like? Maybe bump it up to 10 hours if you're under that.

If they're not opening, it's probably light starvation. Try lowering them or upgrading your fixture.

I feel you on the struggle. My first deep tank was a disaster until I switched to Radions. Now everything's happy. Maybe start with one strong light and see how they respond? Patience is key.

My tank's only 18 inches, but my buddy's got a deep one. He uses those cheap Amazon LEDs, and somehow his stuff grows. Maybe it's the water? Dunno.

Y'all sleeping on T5 hybrids. I mix 'em with LEDs, and my SPS are popping. Depth ain't a problem when you got that combo.

I've had good luck with the Noopsyche K7 Pro. It's budget-friendly and punches deep. My Duncan's been growing like crazy since I got it.

My tank's 24 inches too. I started with one AI Hydra, but my Torches were pissed. Added a second one, and now they're chill. Maybe just double up?

PAR meters are your friend. Borrow one if you can't buy. Numbers don't lie.
