is this a familiar story?

Post by zenko9 »

i've got a bubble tip anemone and my domino damsel's been interacting with it pretty heavily, rubbing up against it and even laying in it - i thought that was just something clowns did. will my damsel start feeding it like a clown's supposed to or is this just a weird fluke? it's been protecting the anemone for 3 days now, which is kinda cool i guess. any info would be super helpful, i'm still pretty new to all this and trying to learn.

Domino damsels can actually form a symbiotic relationship with anemones, similar to clownfish. They're kind of an in-between species - not fully adapted to living among the anemone's stinging tentacles, but still able to benefit from the relationship. It's likely your damsel will even help feed the anemone, similar to how clownfish do.
