Mine got a little brown once when I neglected water changes. After a few clean cycles, it bounced back. So yeah, keep the water clean and they'll be fine.

Dude, marimo balls are legit the easiest thing ever. Just don't overthink it. They're like the chillest roommate you could ask for in a tank.

I've heard some people keep them in the fridge to mimic their natural cold water habitat. Has anyone tried that? Seems a bit extra to me, but maybe it works.

Yeah, that's a thing, but it's mostly for people keeping them in jars without heaters. In a tank with stable temps, it's unnecessary. Just keep it below 77°F and you're golden.
