keeping red jewel cichlids
Caught my pair on camera at home, they're not being as feisty as I've witnessed before.

Breeding jewels is a breeze - they're easy to keep, maintain, and breed. With a pair, you can either give them their own tank or keep them with other tankmates, just ensure the others have plenty of swimming room to escape any aggression. I'd suggest a 25-30 gallon tank for the pair. Provide a cave or hiding spot for them to defend or hide in to raise the fry. Keep the temperature around 78 F and stimulate breeding with a 50% water change. Once the eggs hatch and the fry are free swimming, feed them crushed flake food or frozen baby brine - it's easier than hatching brine. Once they're eating, it's smooth sailing.

Nostalgic for me too, duskite - Jewels were my introduction to Cichlids. The colours were just stunning.
