Blastomussa wellsi feeding needs

Post by luxe »

Just picked up a Blastomussa wellsi frag, but I'm not sure what to feed it. My tank's a 40-gallon mixed reef with T5 lighting, nitrates around 5 ppm, and I dose amino acids weekly. What's worked for y'all?

I've had mine for about six months, and they seem to dig mysis shrimp. I target feed twice a week with a pipette, and they puff up real nice. Tank's a 75-gallon with Radion LEDs, salinity at 1.025.

Mine's been thriving on Reef Roids. I mix it with tank water and broadcast feed once a week. Got a 50-gallon cube with a Nero 5 wavemaker, and the flow's just enough to keep 'em happy without blasting them.

Yep, mysis is the move. I do the same but add a bit of selcon for extra nutrients. 30-gallon nano here, with a AI Prime HD.

Mine's been kinda finicky. Tried Reef Roids and mysis, but it only responds to live brine shrimp. 65-gallon mixed reef, Red Sea salt mix, and a Tunze skimmer. Maybe it's just a picky eater?

I've had luck with a mix of frozen cyclops and amino acids. 20-gallon nano, no skimmer, just weekly water changes. They're not growing super fast, but they're definitely not dying either.

Mine's been in a 90-gallon for a year, and it's doubled in size. I feed a combo of mysis, Reef Roids, and sometimes even small bits of scallop. MP40s for flow, and it's under a pair of Kessil A360Xs.

Target feed. Always target feed. Broadcast feeding's a waste with these guys. 120-gallon SPS-dominated tank, Ecotech pumps, and a Vertex skimmer. They'll eat anything meaty if it's right in their face.

Spot on. I use a turkey baster for mine, and they've been growing like weeds. 55-gallon mixed reef, with a Reef Octopus skimmer and AI Hydras.

Thanks for all the tips, everyone. Gonna try mysis first and see how it goes. Appreciate the help!
