Best type of heater for Betta tanks
Best type of heater for Betta tanks
I'm setting up a 5-gallon tank for my betta and need advice on heaters. What's the most reliable type? I've heard mixed things about preset vs adjustable.
Re: Best type of heater for Betta tanks
For a 5-gallon, I'd go with a small adjustable heater. Presets can be sketchy, especially if your room temp fluctuates. I've had good luck with the 50W Aqueon Pro, keeps my tank at 78°F steady.
Re: Best type of heater for Betta tanks
Yep, adjustable is the way to go. My betta hated the preset one I tried first, kept getting weird vibes from the temp swings. Switched to a Fluval M50 and it's been chill since.

Second this. Aqueon Pro is solid, just make sure you get a thermometer to double-check. Some heaters can be off by a degree or two.

Thanks, everyone. I'll look into the Aqueon Pro and Fluval M50. Appreciate the specifics!
Re: Best type of heater for Betta tanks
I've been using the Hygger mini for my 5-gallon, works like a charm. It's got a digital display, so no guessing. My betta's been way more active since I got it.
Re: Best type of heater for Betta tanks
Digital displays are nice, but they can be pricey. If you're on a budget, the Tetra HT10 is decent for smaller tanks. Just keep an eye on it the first few days.
Re: Best type of heater for Betta tanks
My betta tank's in a colder room, so I went with the Eheim Jager 75W. Overkill for 5 gallons, but it's reliable. Just gotta dial it in right.

Heaters are boring, but my betta loves his little Orlushy thing. Dunno how it works, but it does. Just don't get the cheapo ones from eBay, learned that the hard way.

I use a preset heater from Top Fin. It's been fine, but my apartment's always warm. Maybe not the best if your place gets cold.
