adding kribensis and other fish to my tank

Post by bertsonic »

hi all

I'd really appreciate some advice from you guys, again.

My kribensis have started getting aggressive, which I'm guessing is because they're ready to mate. They've built a den under my log in the middle of the tank and are defending it pretty fiercely. The thing is, this has been going on for over a week now, and I'm not sure if they've laid eggs or not. The female's belly is still really red, which I thought meant she hadn't laid them yet?

So, my first question is, if the female hasn't laid eggs yet, can I still redecorate the tank with the fish being so territorial? I don't want to risk disturbing anything, especially with their den right in the middle.

My second question is about adding more fish to the tank. I've got a 90-litre tank, with a 600L/H filter, and the water temp is around 25-26C. I've currently got 2 kribs, 2 blue rams, 1 flying fox, and 6 rosy barbs. I was thinking of adding 5 scissortail or other barbs, like green, tiger, or albino barbs. What do you guys think?

And, just to confirm, would it be safe to redecorate the tank with the fish being so protective of their den?

Looking forward to hearing your thoughts, thanks.

I'd say redecorate is probably the way to go. What fish would you consider adding to your tank, mate?
