This thread is super helpful. I've been scared to try plants, but maybe I'll start with Java Fern like kayla. Seems chill.

Totally agree with sundrift. Java Fern is bulletproof once you get it anchored. My first plant too, and it's still going strong after two years.

That's reassuring! I tied mine to driftwood, and it's hanging in there. Just wish it'd grow faster, but patience is key, I guess.

Patience is huge with low-tech. My tank took almost a year to really fill in, but now it's lush. Slow and steady wins the race.
