haven't been able to find my betta since last night, it took me like 10 minutes of taking stuff out of his tank to find him and he was just laying in the gravel on his side, not even swimming. I took him out of the tank to see if he'd swim, but he just didn't move. he's still breathing though. what can i do??
update; Biggie didn't make it through the night, but i did notice he had these yellow spots and the scales on his head were all raised, so i'm pretty sure he had some kinda infection.

looks like it could be some sort of gill issue or infection, possibly related to water quality. what are your tank parameters, that might be a contributing factor.sandfox wrote: ↑Thu Jun 09, 2022 5:22 am haven't been able to find my betta since last night, it took me like 10 minutes of taking stuff out of his tank to find him and he was just laying in the gravel on his side, not even swimming. Can't really offer any advice without knowing the full tank setup and parameters, need more info to make any suggestions.
Re: emergency help for my betta
You gotta do a huge water change right now with a good conditioner like Seachem Prime or API Tap Water Conditioner. Biggie's got ammonia poisoning, that's what's going on.

Ammonia levels need to be zero, even a tiny bit like 0.1 is still too much. 20 nitrates isn't bad though.sandfox wrote: ↑Thu Jun 09, 2022 5:22 am haven't been able to find my betta since last night, it took me like 10 minutes of taking stuff out of his tank to find him and he was just laying in the gravel on his side, not even swimming. Keep doing big water changes till the ammonia hits 0, it's the best way to get it under control and prevent any more damage.

I found him under a decoration he loved to play in, and my other fish seem fine. I did a 75% water change 2 days ago, and I've been trying to get the ammonia down.sandfox wrote: ↑Thu Jun 09, 2022 5:22 am haven't been able to find my betta since last night, it took me like 10 minutes of taking stuff out of his tank to find him and he was just laying in the gravel on his side, not even swimming. You should be using a proper water conditioner like Seachem Prime or API Tap Water Conditioner, those are the good ones.
