How often to feed a Betta
How often to feed a Betta
I've been feeding my betta twice a day, but he seems bloated lately. How often do you guys feed yours? I'm using pellets, about 2-3 per feeding, but maybe it's too much.
Re: How often to feed a Betta
Twice a day is fine, but bloating suggests overfeeding. Try cutting back to once a day or smaller portions. Bettas have tiny stomachs, about the size of their eye. Also, consider fasting them one day a week to prevent digestive issues.
Re: How often to feed a Betta
Yeah, mine gets fed once a day, and he's chill. Sometimes I skip a day if he looks rounder than usual. Bettas are like dogs, they'll eat even if they're full, so gotta watch out for that.
Re: How often to feed a Betta
I agree with this! My guy does great on one feeding a day, and I fast him on Sundays. He's never had bloating issues since I started this routine.
Re: How often to feed a Betta
Mine's a pig, gonna eat whatever I drop in. I do 3 pellets in the mornin' and that's it. Sometimes a treat like bloodworms, but not too often. Keep it simple, ya know?
Re: How often to feed a Betta
I feed mine once daily, alternating between pellets and frozen brine shrimp. The variety seems to keep him healthy and active. Bloating is rare, but if it happens, I skip the next feeding.
Re: How often to feed a Betta
Overfeeding's a common mistake. I'd stick to once a day, maybe 2-3 pellets max. If you're using freeze-dried food, soak it first to prevent swelling in their stomach. Also, watch for uneaten food, it can mess with your water quality.
Re: How often to feed a Betta
Back in my day, we fed bettas every other day and they lived for years. These days, folks are too worried about feeding schedules. Just don't overdo it, and your fish'll be fine.
Re: How often to feed a Betta
Thanks for the advice, everyone. I'll try cutting back to once a day and see how he does. Appreciate the help!
