Ideal temperature for CPDs
Ideal temperature for CPDs
What's the best temp range for Celestial Pearl Danios? I've got mine at 72F but heard they might prefer warmer. Tank's a 20 long, planted, with sponge filter and no heater issues.

Re: Ideal temperature for CPDs
CPDs thrive at 72–75F, but they can handle up to 78F if acclimated slowly. Lower temps might slow their metabolism, so 72F is fine if they're active. What's your water change routine?
Re: Ideal temperature for CPDs
Mine are chillin' at 74F, and they're super active. Got 'em in a 10 gallon with some shrimp. They're tiny but mighty, lol. You seen 'em color up at higher temps?
Re: Ideal temperature for CPDs
Yeah, mine got brighter at 76F! But I'd stick to 74F if you're worried about stability. How often do you feed yours?
Re: Ideal temperature for CPDs
I keep mine at 75F, and they're breeding like crazy. Tank's got floating plants and dim lighting. They're not picky, but consistency's key. You got any tankmates with 'em?
Re: Ideal temperature for CPDs
72F is acceptable, but 74–76F is ideal for activity and coloration. Ensure your heater's reliable—sudden swings stress them. What's your substrate? They forage a lot.
Re: Ideal temperature for CPDs
Thanks for the tips! I'll bump it to 74F slowly. Doing weekly 20% changes, and they're with some Pygmy Corys. Substrate's sand with leaf litter.

Mine are at 73F, and they're doing great. Just watch for signs of stress if you change temps. You using any supplements for the plants?
Re: Ideal temperature for CPDs
Higher temps might speed up their lifespan, so 72–74F is a sweet spot. You seen any spawning behavior? They're shy but fun to watch.
Re: Ideal temperature for CPDs
I've kept 'em at 75F with no issues. Tank's got lots of hiding spots. They're not fans of bright light, so floaters help. How old are yours?
