what plants handle warm water?
what plants handle warm water?
I've got a tank running at 82°F and wanna add some plants. What's gonna thrive in that heat? Right now I've got some Anubias but they're barely hanging on. Tank's got a sand substrate, moderate lighting, and a canister filter. Any suggestions?

Anubias can handle warm water but might struggle if lighting isn't balanced. Try Amazon Sword, they're hardy and do well up to 84°F. Also, Vallisneria spreads fast in warm tanks. What's your nitrate level? High temps can speed up plant metabolism, so they'll need more nutrients.

I've had luck with Java Fern in my 80°F tank. It's low-maintenance and doesn't need fancy lighting. Just tie it to driftwood or rocks. My tank's got a sponge filter, and the plants are doing fine. Maybe give that a shot?

Yo, my tank's a sauna at 85°F and my Hornwort's goin' wild. That stuff grows like it's on steroids. Just toss it in and let it vibe. Sand substrate, basic LED lights, no CO2. Easy peasy.

Hornwort's a good call, but it can get messy if it sheds. I'd recommend Water Wisteria too. It's sturdy and handles heat well. My tank's at 83°F, and it's thriving with root tabs.fin_troller wrote: ↑Thu May 15, 2025 1:40 am Yo, my tank's a sauna at 85°F and my Hornwort's goin' wild. That stuff grows like it's on steroids. Cryptocoryne Wendtii is another option. It's slow-growing but adapts well to warm water. Mine's in a 81°F tank with Fluval Stratum and medium light. Just keep an eye on algae if you ramp up nutrients.

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone. Gonna try Vallisneria and Water Wisteria first. Appreciate the help!

Good choices. Just remember to trim the Vallisneria regularly. It can block light if it gets too tall. What's your tank size? That'll affect how fast it spreads.

My 20-gallon's got Vallisneria, and it's everywhere. But it looks great, so no complaints. Just keep up with water changes to manage the nutrient load.

Bruh, if you wanna go wild, try Duckweed. It'll cover the whole surface in a week. Warm water's like crack for that stuff. Just don't blame me when you're scoopin' it out forever.
