kris' interactions with other africans
Just set up my new 40 gallon aquarium. Got 11 juvenile cichlids with it - Venustus, Livingstoni, and a few others like Flux's blood peacock and Taiwan reef. They're still pretty small, about 2-3 inches. Thinking of adding some kribs to the tank, any thoughts on that?
Re: kris' interactions with other africans
I wouldn't recommend it. Kribs are African Riverine Cichlids that thrive in softer water with lower pH levels, which might not be ideal for your current setup. However, it's worth noting that, unless they're breeding, Kribs tend to be more peaceful than Malawis.

I'd advise against it. Kribs are generally peaceful unless breeding, but they do prefer softer water with a lower pH, which might not be ideal for your existing stock.
Re: kris' interactions with other africans
Although not recommended, I've actually got a large Krib living with my Malawis. He's a bit of a special case, really - was causing chaos in my mum's tank, so I took him in. I'm aware of the water differences, but he's already adapted to hard water. The Johanni's keep him in check, and he's learned his place. Gets a bit big for his britches now and then, but they soon sort him out. He's healthy, thriving, and all's good. Not saying it's the best idea, but I've had success with it, so thought I'd share.

Definitely agree, can't stress it enough.dorviko wrote: ↑Tue May 13, 2025 8:59 pm I wouldn't recommend it.
