I've had my Acans for about a year now, and I've noticed something weird lately. The other day, after feeding, the polyps started extending upwards instead of just inflating and putting out their tentacles. The only thing that's changed in the tank is that we had a big salinity swing when I was away for work over the weekend in December - whoever was in charge didn't top off my tank with RODI, so salinity went from 1.025 on Friday morning to 1.036 by Monday night.
I've got that under control now, and I'm nursing a frogspawn coral that receded pretty badly because of the spike. But I'm wondering, do Acans normally extend their whole polyp like that, or is mine just stressed about something? I don't know if it needs more light, since it's been healthy and growing like crazy since I got it. I started with 3 heads and now it's got over 10.
Acan frag polyps extending: what's the cause and how to encourage it

I've seen that behavior before in corals that aren't getting enough light. It's like they're reaching up for more.

My experience with acans is they can be quite normal in this behavior, I have 10 frags and they all do this. They're a hungry bunch, always on the lookout for their next meal. Consistent water parameters are key to their health, so I'm glad you got that salinity issue under control.
When seeking advice, it's helpful to provide some context, like your current water test results. Without that information, it's a bit like asking for a diagnosis without showing any symptoms - it's tough to pinpoint the issue.
