I came across them on a site and I'm trying to figure out the tank size I'd need for a pair.
Would 1 male and 2 females work or should I just get a pre-paired set?
Also, what kind of habitat would be best for them?
is it possible to buy pelvicachromis pulcher?
Re: is it possible to buy pelvicachromis pulcher?
I've got experience breeding Pelvicachromis, 8 different strains to be exact. Buying young pairs is the way to go, in my opinion. I've had success breeding them in a 2x1x1 tank setup. Fine sand, plenty of bogwood, and caves are a must for their habitat. I've got some Pelvicachromis taeniatus 'Niger' Reds available for sale in the classifieds if you're interested.

That's great info, thanks. 2x1x1 feet sounds manageable, I could definitely work with that for a pair. I've already got a tank with rocks and 2 neptunes, so it's just a matter of swapping out the substrate since I've got fine gravel in there now.

Nice, and I'm guessing that's in feet. If so, I could get a pair of them. I've got loads of rocks in the tank with 2 neptunes in it. All I'd have to do is change the substrate since I've got fine gravel.
Hi, yes, that's in feet, lol. As these are dwarf cichlids, they only grow to a max of 4 inches for the males and about 2-3 inches for females, so it's easy to maintain one pair in that sized tank.
