keeping coral beauty and flame angel fish

Post by finleyz »

I'm planning a 55 gallon tank with a 30 gallon refugium and was wondering if I can keep a coflake beauty and a flame angel together. I've heard that you should only keep one dwarf angel per tank, so I just wanted to confirm if that's true or not.

It's doable, but not always the best idea, I've tried it before and they got along fine, but every few days they'd have a go at each other. So I ended up removing one. I've heard that Flames and Bicolours mix the best, supposedly because they're so different in colour, which reduces the likelihood of fighting.

One thing I'd suggest is asking your LFS if you can introduce the pair before buying, just to see how they interact. Good luck.

mixing dwarf angels is generally not a good idea, you could give it a shot but i wouldn't recommend it, its just not worth the risk

I agree with floralix, not kyle, since he wasn't mentioned in this thread. Coflake beauties and flame angels do have similar colourings and body shapes. I've also heard that bi-colours and flames mix better, like zeno4 mentioned earlier.

Thanks for the advice. I was drawn to their colors, that's why I wanted both coflake beauty and flame angel. But if they're likely to fight, I'll pass.
