Hi all, simple question here.
I've got a single 250w Radium 20k 16" above my 60 cube. The colors on my SPS look amazing, but my LPS are looking pretty washed out. They're all near the bottom of the tank, which might be part of the issue.
My orange fungia and Miami Hurricane chalice are doing great, and the meteor shower cyphastrea is looking pretty good too. However, my bubblegum monster, acans, and montastrea are really struggling - they're very pale. Polyp extension is fine at night, though.
So, is my light just too powerful?
Is too much light hurting my corals?
Re: Is too much light hurting my corals?
I'm not convinced it's the light intensity that's the issue. I'd suggest experimenting with different locations within the tank for some of these corals.
Re: Is too much light hurting my corals?
I've kept them on the bottom, and the ones that are faded are in shaded spots too. I haven't really moved them around, figuring they might be getting too much light already, and anywhere else I put them would just be more of the same.
