Feeding schedule for brain corals
Feeding schedule for brain corals
Got a new Brain Coral last week, but it's not opening up much. How often should I feed it? Tank's a 40g breeder, running at 78F, salinity 1.025. Lights are AI Prime HDs, 10 hours a day.
Re: Feeding schedule for brain corals
Brain Corals don't need heavy feeding. Try spot feeding once or twice a week with mysis or reef roids. Keep an eye on water params, especially nitrates.

Mine took a few weeks to settle in. If it's not opening, check flow. Too much can stress them. I feed mine every 5 days with a mix of frozen and pellets.

Re: Feeding schedule for brain corals
I've had good luck feeding mine every 4 days. They seem to like smaller portions more often. What's your phosphate level? High phosphates can mess with their appetite.
Re: Feeding schedule for brain corals
Brain Corals are pretty chill. I feed mine reef roids once a week, and it's thriving. Make sure your alk and calcium are stable too. Unstable params can make them cranky.
Re: Feeding schedule for brain corals
Yep, overfeeding can cause more harm than good. I'd start with once a week and adjust based on how it responds. Also, check for pests. Flatworms or nudis can stress them out.
Re: Feeding schedule for brain corals
Feed mine every 3 days with a mix of mysis and cyclopeeze. They're in a 50g with moderate flow. Key is consistency. If you change the schedule too much, they'll get fussy.
Re: Feeding schedule for brain corals
Mine's in a 30g cube, and I feed it every 5 days. It's under a Kessil A160, and the colors are popping. Maybe try adjusting your light intensity if it's not opening.

Thanks for the tips, everyone. Gonna try feeding twice a week and check my flow. Appreciate the help!
