Cubefilter vs ati sponge filter

Post by polar »

I'm curious about these two options for my tank. Does anyone have experience with a Swiss Tropical Poret Foam Cube filter or an ATI sponge filter?

I haven't used the Swiss Tropical Poret Foam Cube Filter but it looks like just another sponge to me. I'm using the API sponges and they're doing the job just fine.

Re: Cubefilter vs ati sponge filter

I've had my fair share of plain cube filters from various places, and some of them have been working just fine for nearly 20 years now. They all do what they're supposed to do, and I've got no complaints. I've tried the Angels Plus cube filters, and I think they're my top pick. As for Swiss Tropicals, I think they're worth the investment for certain things, but when it comes to plain old cubes, I'm not convinced they're worth the extra cost.

I think I might be overcomplicating things. Given the cost, I'll likely just opt for some replacement ATI pro sponges and be done with it.

I buy ATI Pro sponges in bulk from Jehmco and prep them in my water tanks. No need for the pricier Poret sponges unless you're after something bigger.

I've had good results with the API Pro sponges, specifically the coarse ones.
