information on raising baby bettas
Re: information on raising baby bettas
I'd like to add that tap water treated with dechlorinator is also suitable for use with baby bettas.

I wasn't just answering you, I was trying to help anyone who might be looking for an answer. I didn't mean to cause any offense, my apologies again. However, I have to respectfully disagree with you about using tap water with a dechlorinator for baby bettas. While adults can handle water changes with a dechlorinator, babies are more delicate and can struggle with other chemicals that the treatment doesn't eliminate. I'm not saying there aren't any exceptions, but from my experience, baby bettas from large pet stores tend to be weaker and more stressed than those from experienced breeders. I learned the hard way, losing three of my first baby bettas due to my own ignorance and lack of research. I'm just trying to share my knowledge so others can avoid the same mistakes. In my opinion, it's always best to err on the side of caution and use purified, reverse osmosis treated bottled water for baby bettas.florinka wrote: ↑Tue Apr 22, 2025 4:51 pm A few questions about these cuties...
I spotted them at Petco and had never seen them before - they're about an inch long, not counting their fins. Any thoughts on how old these little guys might be, and is it possible to determine their sex or type of Betta at this age? Being young, I'm wondering how they'd do in a 20-gallon tank with Mollies to start.
Sidenote... I think I found my new favorite Betta - the Elephant Ear! They're stunning.
Thanks in advance for any info.
