is a betta the right choice?
Re: is a betta the right choice?
Those show fish are stunning, I agree. I've had my fair share of Bettas in the past, but I've never spent this much on one. I think what's holding me back is the price, it's still a bit steep for me. My previous Bettas were all low-cost, but this one's different. The quality is top-notch, I'll give them that.
Re: is a betta the right choice?
I've got six bettas at home right now, they're not high-end ones though. Before I bring a new betta home, I need to make sure my 5-gallon tank is good to go - it's only had ghost shrimp in it so far, and I recently borrowed some filter media for another tank I was setting up.

To be honest, I've always had a bit of a fear when it comes to breeding Bettas. It's not the actual breeding process itself that worries me, but rather what I'd do with all the babies afterwards.

Honestly, I think it's way more rewarding to breed and raise your own Bettas. Not only is it a fun experience, but you'll also have a better understanding of their needs and care. Plus, you can enjoy watching them grow and thrive without breaking the bank. Instead of spending $35 on one fish, you could use that money to set up another tank or upgrade your current equipment.

I've actually been watching Simply Betta's vids on YouTube. She's a total character, but you can really learn a lot from her.FishQueen wrote: ↑Sat Apr 05, 2025 8:00 pm I stopped by my LFS about a week ago and that's when I saw her - this gorgeous female Halfmoon Betta. I was immediately smitten, but I couldn't take her home right then. Luckily, when I went back a few days later, she was still there waiting for me. Now I have a cycled, planted 5-gallon tank that's been sitting empty since my previous Betta passed away - I'll attach a picture so you can see it. I really want to give this beautiful girl a home, but the price is a bit steep at 35 dollars. What are your thoughts - should I bring her home? The tank is ready for a Betta, and I've already got some ghost shrimp in there to keep her company.
