keeping albino african cichlids

Post by iamnearby »

I just got an Albino African Cichlid and I'm a bit worried about him. He's 5 or 6 inches long and pretty big for my tank. I've only had him for 2 days and he seems kinda stressed out. One minute he's swimming around like crazy, the next he's just sitting at the bottom of the tank or floating at the top of the water. When he does swim, he's really fast and active, but I'm still concerned there might be something wrong with him. Has anyone else had a similar experience with this type of fish?

Hi iamnearby,
A few things to consider. Tank size, was it fully cycled before adding your Albino African Cichlid? Any tankmates?
Also, water parameters would be helpful - ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and pH. Those are usually included in standard test kits.

Anw, gorgeous Albino African Cichlid you've got there.

Could you please provide more information about your water parameters, and a bit about your tank's history? That way, we can offer you more accurate advice and assistance.

Looking forward to hearing back from you.

Lovely cichlid, by the way.
Water parameters would be super helpful, as others have mentioned.
