Right on the money, that's exactly how Java ferns reproduce. Leave them be until they mature a bit, resembling miniature versions of the adult plants, then you can carefully pluck them from the mother leaf and relocate them elsewhere in the tank, securing them above the substrate with a tie or some glue - just remember to keep the rhizome above the substrate.

Java Fern's a no-brainer, it thrives in almost any freshwater setup with minimal fuss. It's also super easy to get it to propagate, as long as you keep the rhizome above the substrate - that's literally the only condition it needs.

Just keep the Java Fern consistently moist and it'll thrive, creating a lush environment in no time. It's not as aggressive as water wisteria, but it develops into a beautiful, full bush surprisingly quickly. I've successfully spread it across all my tanks, originating from a single plant I purchased years ago.

My tanks are pretty root-heavy, sand along the back and sides, with a bunch of different plants. I've got rocks, caves, ornaments, and wood in the middle, all with Java fern attached.

I like to replant the Java fern babies on different pieces of bog wood, caves, rocks, and so on. When I'm cleaning the gravel, I'll remove them and then put them back in different spots to mix up the environment for the fish. It's not exactly a YouTube-worthy aquascape, but it's way easier to clean.

I've noticed Java ferns seem to have a survival strategy, where even aging, ragged leaves will try to reproduce through viviparity. It's interesting that a plant considered easy to grow can be so underutilized - I think many people don't fully tap into their potential. I recall Zorchno's massive aquarium, where Java ferns made up around 80% of the plant life, and it was truly impressive. The plant definitely has my respect.
