can indian almond leaves encourage betta breeding?
can indian almond leaves encourage betta breeding?
I got CT male, he's around 8-9 months old but no bubble nest yet. My VT tail male, he started making bubble nest at 6 months. Same setup for all bettas, but some make bubbles, some don't.

I think you're overthinking the whole plant leaf thing, to be honest. Domesticated fish aren't really affected by the stuff, breeding-wise. Wild caught ones might appreciate a bit of tannin in the water, but it's not like it's going to make a huge difference in encouraging them to breed.
It's like people, you know? We're all different, and fish are no exception. Some betta males will build a nest anywhere, while others are super picky and won't even think about it unless they feel really at home in their tank.
Just make sure you've got plenty of floating plants, not too much surface turbulence or aeration, and feed them well. Keep the water clean, and both fish healthy. When they're ready, they'll build a nest.

Re: can indian almond leaves encourage betta breeding?
What's the diet like for your CT male? What are the water parameters looking like? Are there any plants in the tank, specifically floating ones? What type of filter are you using? Would love to see a photo of the tank and the fish itself.
There could be various reasons for the lack of a bubble nest, ranging from the fish's immaturity to potential water quality issues.
PS. Just a reminder, a Betta building a bubble nest doesn't necessarily mean it's happy, and vice versa.

They just make the water a bit darker, which can make the bettas feel more at ease when breeding.
