is eyebiter compatible?
I'm running a 100g with an FX6, currently home to a hujeta pike, senegal bichir and 7 silver dollars. Thinking of adding an eyebiter - never had african cichlids before, so any advice would be great, cheers.
Re: is eyebiter compatible?
I'd say you're good to go with the eyebiter. The FX6 is a beast, pumping out 925 gallons per hour - more than enough for your tank and a few more. I love the senegal bichir in there, by the way. To introduce the eyebiter, I'd recommend a separate tank, if you have one big enough, that faces your 100g. Keep it in there for a couple of days to see how it behaves. If it's being aggressive, repeat the process. I did this with my gourami and it made a huge difference.
You've got plenty of space, so I wouldn't worry about that. Just make sure you've got some tall rocks and a cave or two for the fish to reclaim their territories over time. That way, they can establish their own little areas and reduce aggression.

Re: is eyebiter compatible?
No, period. The Dimidiochromis compressiceps is a major predator and not suited for your community tank. It's a large fish, 9-12 inches, and demands space to swim - we're talking a very long tank, and I mean long, 6 feet is just the minimum. Open swimming space is a must. And let's not forget, it's an ambush predator. On top of this, the water requirements don't match - moderately hard or harder water for the cichlid, soft water for the silver dollars, and the bichir is closer to the dollars' needs. Not a good mix.

Thanks for the advice guys, looks like an eyebiter is out of the question. Appreciate the honesty, especially from boomer - didn't know about the water requirements and space needs.
